Coastal Imaging @ UNSW
Welcome to the Water Research Laboratory's Coastal Imaging @ UNSW Website. The Water Research Laboratory (WRL) is a leading international research and consulting laboratory that is part of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales. These pages are a portal to real-time image data that is currently being collected by WRL along the eastern seaboard of Australia. The data is used to improve coastal zone management practices within Australia. The collection and analysis of this data is funded by various New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland (QLD) government bodies.
For a brief introduction to the science of coastal imaging and the ARGUS monitoring system used by WRL refer to the 'What is Coastal Imaging' and 'Acknowledgement' links above. Otherwise, use the navigation bar on your left to explore the real-time data being collected and analysed by WRL. A selection of data from previous monitoring programs is also available for download.
WRL also undertakes research and offers advice to address complicated water engineering problems relating to groundwater, hydrology, river flow and flood plain management, estuarine and ocean hydraulics, sediment transport, stratified flow, pipe flow, major pump installations, hydraulic structures, water distribution, wave and surge predictions, foreshore protection, breakwater design, coastal zone management and environmental studies.
